Areas of Operation

The APEX Accelerator program (formerly known as PTAC), under management of the Department of Defense (DOD) Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), plays a critical role in the Department’s efforts to identify and engage with a wide range of businesses entering and participating in the defense supply-chain. The program provides the education and training that all businesses need to become capable of participating in DOD and other government contracts – federal, state and local.

The APEX Accelerator mission is to serve as the axis for existing and new business to strengthen the defense industrial base by accelerating innovation, fostering ingenuity, and establishing resilient and diverse supply chains.

Based in Rochester, NY, the Monroe County APEX Accelerator is the primary program for government contracting and marketing assistance, providing free and confidential services to businesses established in the nine county Finger Lakes Region: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates, also providing services to Cayuga, and Onondaga counties.

As a program hosted by the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency (COMIDA), the APEX is part of the County’s strong commitment to growing diverse small businesses and creating jobs. The Program was transitioned from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to the Department of Defense (DoD) Office of Small Business Program (OSBP) on October 1, 2022.
